Larry Scott, our friend and longtime volunteer of the Muskoka Rocks Races lost his courageous battle with brain cancer surrounded by his beloved family.
Larry loved being outdoors enjoying nature, especially in Muskoka.
Larry was my neighbour and when I told him about a plan I had hatched with my running partner, Laurel Brooks around creating a community 10k race supporting Camp Oochigeas he took it upon himself to help secure major sponsorships, first from Scotia Bank and then TD Bank. We could not have had the long time success without his insight and stewardship over the years. Every race Larry could be spotted wearing his orange vest leading the parking crew and encouraging race participants NOT TO PARK ON JUDDHAVEN ROAD!!
I would like to also mention that Larry was a great friend and mentor to our late son, Daniel.
Every member of the Scott family, Donna, Laura, Amy and Brandon have all taken on roles and volunteered at our event. We owe a huge debt of gratitude and we send our love and prayers to Larry’s incredible family.
